Application Properties

Flowset Control is a Spring Boot and Jmix application, so it is configured with the standard Spring Boot mechanisms. This page lists the properties specific to Flowset Control and the most important general ones. The full list of Jmix platform properties (jmix.) with details is in the Jmix documentation; Spring Boot properties (server., spring., logging., management.*) are described in the Spring Boot documentation.

How to Set a Property

Any property can be set in one of the ways below. They are listed in ascending order of precedence: when the same property is set in several places, the value from the higher-precedence source wins.

Method Example Where it is used

External application.properties file

config/application.properties next to the JAR: server.port=9090

Portable distribution. Spring Boot automatically reads the file from the ./config/ directory relative to the working directory.

Environment variable

SERVER_PORT=9090

Docker, Kubernetes, systemd. The variable name is derived from the property name: dots and dashes become _, letters are upper-cased (relaxed binding). For example, flowset.control.features.modification-enabled → FLOWSET_CONTROL_FEATURES_MODIFICATION_ENABLED.

JVM system property

-Dserver.port=9090

java -D… -jar, WildFly (standalone.conf).

Command-line argument

--server.port=9090

java -jar flowset-control.jar --server.port=9090 or ./run.sh --server.port=9090 in the portable distribution.

Restart the application after changing properties.

Server

Property Default Purpose

server.port

8082

HTTP port of the application.

server.servlet.session.cookie.name

CONTROL_JSESSION

Session cookie name. Change it when several Jmix applications run on the same domain.

jmix.core.available-locales

en,de,es,ru

UI languages available to users.

management.endpoints.web.exposure.include

health,info

Spring Boot Actuator endpoints exposed over HTTP (/actuator/health, /actuator/info).

Database

See Databases for the supported databases.

Property Default Purpose

main.datasource.url

embedded HSQLDB

JDBC URL of the Flowset Control database.

main.datasource.username

sa

Database user name.

main.datasource.password

empty

Database user password.

main.datasource.driver-class-name

derived from the URL

JDBC driver class. Required only when it cannot be detected automatically.

The connection pool is configured with main.datasource.hikari.* properties (for example, main.datasource.hikari.maximum-pool-size); see the HikariCP documentation.

BPM Engine Connection

Engines themselves are added in the UI (see BPM Engine Connection). The properties below control how the application calls the engine REST API.

Property Default Purpose

spring.cloud.openfeign.client.config.default.connect-timeout

10000

Connection timeout for engine REST API calls, ms.

spring.cloud.openfeign.client.config.default.read-timeout

30000

Read timeout for engine REST API calls, ms. Increase it when working with large result sets.

flowset.control.engine.offset-lifetime-in-millis

10000

Lifetime of the computed clock offset between the engine and the application, ms. The offset is used when displaying engine event times.

flowset.control.engine.oauth2.lock-enabled

false

Lock while obtaining an access token for an engine with OAuth2 authentication, so that concurrent threads do not request tokens in parallel.

flowset.control.engine.oauth2.max-retries

5

Maximum number of retries when obtaining an access token.

flowset.control.ui.connection-check.interval-sec

30

Interval of the background availability check of the selected engine from the UI, seconds.

flowset.control.ui.connection-check.connect-timeout

10000

Connection timeout of the availability check, ms.

flowset.control.ui.connection-check.read-timeout

10000

Read timeout of the availability check, ms.

flowset.control.ui.connection-check.max-retries

1

Number of retries when the check fails.

flowset.control.ui.connection-check.retry-timeout

100

Pause between retries, ms.

User Interface

Property Default Purpose

flowset.control.ui.dashboard-load-timeout-sec

300

Timeout for loading dashboard data, seconds.

flowset.control.ui.engine-time-load-timeout-sec

300

Timeout for retrieving the current engine time, seconds.

flowset.control.ui.recent-activity-max-results

500

Maximum number of entries in the recent activity block on the dashboard.

flowset.control.ui.recent-activity-days

7

How many days back recent activity is loaded.

Security

Property Default Purpose

flowset.control.security.login-mode

not set

Login mode. The value oidc enables login through an external OpenID Connect provider and requires the spring.security.oauth2.client. and jmix.oidc. properties. See Single Sign-On (SSO) for details and a Keycloak example.

ui.login.defaultUsername, ui.login.defaultPassword

not set

Pre-fill the login form fields. Convenient for demo stands; do not use in production.

Enterprise Features

The properties in this section apply to the Flowset Control Enterprise edition only.

Property Default Purpose

flowset.control.features.modification-enabled

true

Whether process instance modification is available in the UI.

flowset.control.diagnostics.no-worker-threshold-minutes

15

Process instance diagnostics threshold: an external task is reported as "no worker" when no worker has locked it for longer than this time, minutes.

flowset.control.diagnostics.unassigned-threshold-minutes

240

Process instance diagnostics threshold: a user task is reported as "unassigned" when it has had no assignee for longer than this time, minutes.

AI Assistant

The properties in this section apply to the Flowset Control Enterprise edition only.

The assistant is built on Spring AI and connects to any OpenAI-compatible API. Configuration scenarios for the portable distribution and Docker are described on the AI Assistant page.

Property Default Purpose

spring.ai.openai.api-key

empty

API key of the LLM provider. Until it is set, the assistant shows a "not configured" message.

spring.ai.openai.base-url

not set

Base URL of an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, without the /v1 suffix. Optional for OpenAI; for locally hosted models point it to your server, for example Ollama.

spring.ai.openai.chat.model

not set

Model name as expected by the provider. Optional: without it the Spring AI default model is used.

Logging

Log levels are set with the standard logging.level.<logger> properties. The most useful ones for troubleshooting:

Property Default Purpose

logging.level.io.flowset

info

Logs of the Flowset Control application itself.

logging.level.org.camunda.community.rest.client.api

not set

debug logs requests to the engine REST API (together with spring.cloud.openfeign.client.config.default.logger-level=BASIC).

logging.level.io.jmix

info

Jmix platform logs.

logging.level.eclipselink.logging.sql

info

debug prints the SQL generated by the ORM.
